(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) – Today at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call regarding a distraught male.
The male was located on the roof of Mitchell District High School at 95 Francis Street, Municipality of West Perth. The male refused to cooperate with police.
Members of Perth County OPP set up containment around the school while additional specialized units responded. The Ontario Provincial Police Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) along with the Ontario Provincial Police Emergency Response Team (ERT), Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit and Crisis Negotiators attended and around 9:00 p.m. the male was apprehended. No injuries were sustained to the male or any officers involved in the incident.
The roads in the area were closed for several hours but have since reopened. The investigation is ongoing
