(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Perth County & Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers, Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) Members, along with the assistance from the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit and Aviation Services – Helicopter Section continue to search for a male suspect in relation to a stolen motor vehicle and fail to stop for police investigation.
Shortly before 6:00 a.m. Wingham Police Service stopped the stolen Ford F-450 pickup truck close to Bluevale in Huron County. Police had an interaction with the male suspect which ultimately led to the suspect assaulting the officer and the suspect taking the officer’s marked patrol vehicle.
The suspect immediately fled the scene and travelled west on Highway 86 into Perth County whereupon he crashed the police vehicle into a tree on Barber Avenue North in Listowel.
The suspect was last seen running eastbound on Binning Street East.
The suspect is described as a male, in his early 30’s, with a thin build and short dark hair, wearing a black and red shirt.
I would like to thank the public for providing valuable information to help us further our investigation into the search for this suspect. Although we have no information to believe there are any immediate safety concerns to the public we recommend citizens to always be aware of their surroundings and general safety”.
