23 Year Old Fighting For Life Following Drunk Driving Collision – McDOUGALL Arrested

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On Saturday December 9, 2017 at approximately 4:30 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision. Initial reports indicated that a sedan lost control, crashed and that a passenger was seriously injured on Sideroad 9, Belwood.

OPP, Centre Wellington Fire & Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Service responded. A 23-year-old female passenger from Elora has been transported by air ambulance to a trauma centre in grave condition.

Technical Collision Investigators are assisting in the investigation. The road will remain closed until further notice.

The driver, 30-year-old Jeffrey C. A. McDOUGALL of Arthur has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle – Cause Bodily Harm or Death and with Driving with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol in 100mL of Blood – Cause Bodily Harm or Death contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 5, 2018.
