At this afternoon’s OPP costing meeting two former councillors from Wingham showed up to lie to the Public in the hopes of conning them into keeping the Wingham police. Unelected Archie MacGowan tried to mislead the Public about the cost of renovations for the OPP building, saying it was like throwing $206,000 away. The real police corrected MacGowan with the actual estimate of $14,000.
Former councillor Bernie Bailey claimed that Blyth and East-Wawanosh are getting inferior service from the OPP, and that is why those wards only pay $300(ish) per property. The real police had to correct Bailey about this lie council has been spewing for years and years.
It was also claimed that our officers are the lowest paid in the province, we call bullshit on this and the Sunshine list proves it.
