(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with 205 incidents this past week, here are some examples:
April 23
There was a report of damage done to one of the bathrooms at a sports field outbuilding in Cramahe Township. No property was taken*
Police took reports of several mailboxes in the Brighton and Cramahe areas that were damaged sometime during the night hours. No suspects at the time of this report
April 24
Police responded to a domestic dispute at an Alnwick Haldimand Township residence. As a result of the ensuing investigation a 52yr old man was arrested and charged with four counts of Assault. He was released with an impending court date. Name withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
Between the hours of 4am and 7am a 2016 White North Trail Single axle trailer that was carrying a 2010 Yamaha Wave Runner was stolen from County Road 2 in the Cramahe area after it blew a tire. The owner parked it on the shoulder of the road and pad locked the tongue. When he returned to fix the tire a few short hours later the trailer was gone.
An officer conducting radar enforcement on Hwy 401 in the Port Hope area measured an Eastbound white Pontiac Malibu travelling 175 km/h. The vehicle was stopped and the 34 year old male driver from Scarborough was charged with Stunt Driving – Excessive Speed. The vehicle was impounded for seven days and his driver’s licence was also suspended for the same period of time.
Police and emergency personnel responded to a residence in the Hamilton Township area for reports of a male party who may have ingested a bottle of prescription medication. The conscious 59 year old male was located then transported to the local area hospital for treatment.
April 25
A Cramahe Township resident called police to report that two; 25Litre gas cans were stolen out of his boat that was parked in his driveway. There were no suspects at the time of this report*
Police are still receiving reports of people falling victim to online/ phone scams from people claiming to be from Canada Pension” or “Revenue Canada”. The callers are requesting personal information such as a Social Insurance Number (SIN)
