The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a disturbance in Wallaceburg last night.
Just before 8:00 p.m. officers responded to an altercation on Park Street. A 54-year-old man confronted a 53-year-old man known to him and verbal argument ensued. The argument escalated into a physical altercation and it is alleged that the 54-year-old man:
– struck the other man in the head
– pushed him down onto the ground and verbally threatened him
– then slashed him in the arm with a knife
The altercation ended as the man fled the area on foot prior to police arrival. The victim did not seek medical attention. Shortly after 8:00 p.m. officers located the man on Henry Street and he was arrested. The 54-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with assault, uttering threats and assault with a weapon. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
