(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid several criminal charges against a 35 year old from South Huron following a shoplifting incident. Just after 4:00 p.m. on November 1, 2013 Huron OPP officers responded to a discount store located on Main Street South in Exeter to investigate a report of a female shoplifting.
Officers arrived on scene and arrested the female. A search incident to arrest resulted in police finding several stolen items inside the female’s backpack. As well, she was carrying a knife which was determined to be a breach of her prohibition order. Further checks revealed the female was also serving a probation sentence and was failing to abide by the condition to keep the peace and be of good behavior.
As a result, Cassandra MARTIN, 35, from South Huron has been charged with Theft Under $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order and two counts of Fail to Comply with a Probation Order. She has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 25, 2013 at Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
