Update: Three Hunters Shot

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is again asking all hunters to remember all firearms safety rules when it comes to hunting.

Since yesterday at noon, there have been two hunting accidents within the OPP Central Region that have taken place where a total of three people have been shot. Thankfully, neither of these incidents has resulted in any death or life threatening injuries, but when it comes to firearms, the outcome can be fatal.

The OPP is reminding all hunters to exercise proper firearms safety rules, know the capabilities of your ammunition and be sure of your target and the area beyond it before you shoot. It is also very important to remember to always point your firearm in a safe direction and when walking to keep the safety on and to keep your finger off the trigger.

Please do your part to help make the remainder of this season safe.
