(CARRICK TWP, ON) – On November 10th, 2010 at 10:18 am, the South Bruce OPP received a complaint of a threatening email from a resident in Carrick Township. The threatening message was sent as a follow-up to a Nigerian Scam message that was previously received by the caller.
The Nigerian Scam is an email, mail or fax message regarding “urgent business involving the transfer of money, usually in the millions of dollarsâ€. An upfront processing fee is requested; occasionally your personal banking information is also requested. The South Bruce OPP is asking the public to not respond to this scam, “if it seems to be good to be true, it is too good to be true. Anyone interested in more information on scams is invited to contact the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre online at www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca or by phone at 1 888 495 8501.”
