(FORT FRANCES, ON.) – The Fort Frances Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) has concluded several drug investigations resulting in criminal charges being laid. The following incidents demonstrate the current drug trends within our District.
On September 25, 2013, a 30 year old Fort Frances male was arrested and charged with possession of oxycodone, a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
On September 27, 2013, officers observed a drug trafficking transaction and subsequently arrested a 36 year old Fort Frances female with possession of Oxycodone, a Schedule I drug under the CDSA.
On October 19, 2013, officers charged a male youth with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule II drug (marihuana) under the CDSA. Police seized 125 grams of marihuana during the course of their investigation.
On October 23, 2013, officers stopped a vehicle travelling from Thunder Bay to Fort Frances. The investigation resulted in a 67 year old Fort Frances male being arrested and charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I drug (Oxycodone), Trafficking a Schedule I drug (Oxycodone), and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000.00. Police seized 95 Oxycodone pills and $762 cash.
On October 30, 2013, officers executed a CDSA search warrant at a residence located at 16 Poplar Avenue in Atikokan, ON. As a result of the investigation, officers charged a 20 year old male with three criminal offences: Trafficking a Schedule II drug (cannabis), Possession of a Schedule II drug (Cannabis) and Possession of Property Obtained by crime under $5000. In addition, a 28 year old female was charged with Possession of a Schedule II drug (Cannabis) contrary to the CDSA. Officers seized 2.5 lbs of marihuana and $5425.00 cash.
