(NIPIGON, ON) – Nipigon and Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is conducting its annual Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign from November 23rd, to January 2nd 2013.
Officers with the Nipigon and Schreiber OPP Detachments will be preforming additional R.I.D.E. programs in the communities they serve on top of R.I.D.E. programs carried out throughout the year.
If you plan on drinking, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, stay overnight or take public transit.
The OPP reminds the public that we rely on the public to report crime and impaired driving is a crime that should be treated no differently. If you suspect that someone is driving or about to drive impaired, call 9-1-1 and report it.
Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal death in Canada.
