(BELLEVILLE, ON) – On November 22, 2013 at approximately 5:30PM officers of the Central Hastings detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two (2) vehicle collision on Highway 37 south of Casey Road in the City of Belleville.
Police investigation revealed that a Pontiac Grand Am which had been parked on the east shoulder of the highway waiting to pick up a passenger accelerated and made a u-turn into the path of a north bound Ford ranger pick- up truck.
The driver of the car 65-year-old Rose Dempsey of Belleville, Ontario died as a result of the collision. Her passenger and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries and released. The investigation is continuing.
