Wallet Stolen From Unlocked Vehicle – Credit Card Used

(TRENT HILLS, ON) – On Friday November 22, 2013 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a stolen wallet from a vehicle in the village of Hastings in the Municipality of Trent Hills.

At approximately 1:23pm on Friday, an OPP officer took a theft report of a wallet from an unlocked vehicle in Hastings. The theft actually occurred on Monday November 18 but not reported to police until November 22. The suspect of the theft had removed the female victim’s credit card and discarded the wallet, which was located a short distance away from the victim’s vehicle. The suspect then actually used the credit card two times prior to the victim noticing that her wallet and credit card was missing. The estimated amount of funds used is not known at this time.

OPP are continuing to investigate this occurrence. Residents are again reminded to “Lock It or Lose It”. These types of occurrences are preventable and only take a few minutes on your part to keep your property safe. Secure your vehicles when away from them. Take your valuables with you or put inside. Don’t leave anything in your vehicle in plain view if you cannot put it in a safe place.
