On November 27th, 2013at approximately 4:30pm Owen Sound Police were contacted by security officers from a store at Heritage Place Mall. Security observed a female stealing numerous pieces of merchandise from the store and putting it into a vehicle. Aware that security had observed her, the female fled on foot. With his mother in hiding, the son an unlicensed driver drove the vehicle containing the stolen goods to her. Responding officers located both mother and son fleeing from the area on foot. Both were apprehended without incident.
Police recovered approximately $2000.00 in stolen property. The mother, a 48 year old Dobbington resident, is currently under bail conditions after being charged with numerous prior theft and drug related offences throughout Grey and Bruce Counties. On this date she was charged with three counts of theft under $5000.00, and two counts of breaching her bail conditions. The accused female was held for a bail hearing. Charged with possession of stolen property and driving without a licence was the 20 year old son. He was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on December 19th.
