OPP RIDE STOP YIELDS DRUG POSSESSION CHARGES

(SOUTH PORCUPINE) – The South Porcupine Ontario Provincial Police has laid drug related charges against a pair of Timmins men stemming from a RIDE traffic stop on November 27th on Pine Street South in Adams Twp.

While conducting RIDE sobriety checks, OPP officers had occasion to interview a motorist at the roadside.

Based on investigative cues observed by the officer, the driver and passenger were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

As a result of a search under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act, the OPP officer located and seized approximately 7.5 grams of suspected marijuana.

Further administrative investigation revealed that the driver was currently under suspension in the province of Ontario.

Guihaume CANUEL, 28, of Timmins, has been charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act as well as Driving Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Joshua COLE, 24, of Timmins, has been charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

The accused persons were released from police custody but must attend Provincial Court in Timmins on April 22nd, 2014, to answer to the charges laid against them.

The vehicle was removed from the scene by a licenced driver.
