(LAMBTON SHORES, ON) The Festive Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) Campaign is well underway and the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) set up over 18 RIDE checkpoints at various locations throughout the county over the weekend. When you encounter a RIDE checkpoint, please slow down, proceed with caution and obey the directions given by the officers working at that location.
On December 1, 2013 at around 12:15 p.m., the Lambton County OPP set up a RIDE checkpoint on Thomson Line in the area of Arkona Road. A vehicle entered the checkpoint and while speaking with the male driver it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages. Subsequent tests indicated that 29 year old Michael BICE from North Middlesex, ON, will appear in a Sarnia court on December 23, 2013 to answer to the charges of being over the legal limit under the Criminal Code of Canada and driving a motor vehicle with open liquor under the Liquor Licence Act.
Lambton OPP encourages everyone to plan for a safe ride home if you consume alcoholic beverages. Use a designated driver, a taxi or public transit to ensure you get home safely.
