(Petawawa, Ontario) – On Saturday December 7th the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Auxiliary Unit held their sixth annual “Stuff a Cruiser†event to collect food and toys. Cruisers were at Wal-Mart, Giant Tiger, Food Basics, and Moncions Grocers – Pembroke Market, Petawawa Market and Riverside Markets. The Military Police were at the Canex at Garrison Petawawa.
With the community’s generous help and support the Upper Ottawa Valley Auxiliary Unit and Military Police Service were successful in raising $6,000 in cash and approximately $9000.00 in food and toy donations that go directly to the local Pembroke Branch of the Salvation Army and St. Joseph’s Food Bank for distribution in our community.
Inspector Jeff Smith of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP would like to thank the OPP Auxiliary members for their initiative and their efforts towards contributing to the well being of our less fortunate community members, as well as the various businesses that assisted them in this endeavour and the public for being so generous.
The Auxiliary would like to thank the businesses who allowed them to position Auxiliary members and cruisers outside their business to accept donations, as well as to Butler Chev Olds for donating the use of the cube van to pick up the toys and food. Without this support the event would not take place.
