(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Wednesday, December 11 2013 at approximately 07:32 am, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Shuniah Fire Department responded to single vehicle rollover collision on Highway 11/17, west of the KOA hill.
The driver of a GMC Jimmy was west bound on Highway 11/17 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and rolled the vehicle onto its roof coming to a rest in the centre median ditch. The driver was checked at the scene by ambulance personnel as a precaution and did not suffer any injuries. The vehicle sustained extensive damage.
At approximately 08:06 am, officers responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Gronroos Road and Copenhagen Road in Gorham Township.
The driver of an east bound Chevrolet Equinox slid through a stop sign and collided with a Mitsubishi Lancer. There were no injuries reported. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
The 58 year old female driver of the Equinox, from Gorham Township, was issued an Offence Notice for Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to Stop contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
At approximately 11:26 am, officers responded to a single vehicle rollover collision on Highway 11. The driver of a GMC truck was west bound on Highway 11 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and rolled the vehicle on its roof coming to a rest in the east bound ditch. The driver and passenger were trapped inside the vehicle for a short time until a passerby was able to cut their seatbelts and assist them out of the vehicle.
The 28 year old male passenger from Thunder Bay was transported to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle sustained extensive damage.
