(HURON EAST, ON) – A 55 year old male driver is facing a criminal charge for driving a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol following a traffic stop yesterday afternoon. Just before 3:00 p.m. a GMC Canyon pickup truck entered a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint located at the intersection of Hensall Road and Oak Road. Upon speaking with the driver officers noted the driver had been drinking alcohol.
A roadside screening test was completed which the driver failed. He was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to an Intoxilizer Technician. Both samples were above the legal limit.
As a result, Richard ELLIOTT, 55, from West Perth, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter on January 23, 2014. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
