(INGERSOLL, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently at the scene of a motor vehicle collision involving an on duty OPP officer. The collision occurred at 1:55 p.m. this afternoon, on the westbound off ramp of the 401 Highway at Plank Line.
The OPP Highway Safety Division officer exited the highway and observed a vehicle parked on the north shoulder of the off ramp. The vehicle suddenly pulled off the shoulder onto the roadway directly in the path of the fully marked OPP cruiser.
The officer had to make evasive actions to avoid a collision with the vehicle. The OPP cruiser went into the north ditch and stopped after striking a tree.
The officer received minor injuries and was treated at an area hospital. The other vehicle involved did not remain or return to the scene. The vehicle is described as a white Ford Fusion.
