(SMITHS FALLS, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are urging motorists to consider other travellers safety and remove snow and ice from their vehicles prior to travelling over the next several days.
The OPP in Eastern Ontario have investigated several serious collisions where ice flying off moving vehicles has struck other motorists. Some windshields have been broken and people are being injured as a result of these projectiles. Drivers can face charges should ice or snow flying off their vehicle damage another vehicle. The flying debris is especially dangerous on Highways where the speed limit is higher such as Highway 401 as the debris is striking vehicles at a greater force.
Be a considerate road user and completely clear your vehicle of ice and snow prior to your travels over the next few days, and always.
