(Mallorytown,ON.) – On the 28th of December 2013 at around 11:30 a.m. Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P) in Leeds County were called to a multiple car crash on Hwy 401.
The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes near mile marker, 687 when a black 2007 Pontiac car hit some snow, lost control and then proceeded to hit a light standard. Several other cars travelling eastbound then lost control and entered ditch’s in that area. A double decker bus then drove upon the scene and crashed into several other vehicles that had lost control and were still on the roadway. The bus then lost control and rolled over onto its side.
There were around 7 vehicles and counting as the investigation continues, involved in the crash.
Leeds and Grenville Ambulance attended the scene and transported 11 people to Brockville General Hospital. The injuries are reported to be nonlife threatening in nature.
The bus contained 49 occupants.
Occupants from the bus and other vehicles were taken to the Brockville Memorial Center in the city of Brockville, where a crisis center has been set up to help people effected by the crash.
This investigation is still ongoing at this time.
