Police investigating vandalism at Woolwich Memorial Centre- facility closed Jan 2 for repairs

Waterloo Region, ON–The Woolwich Memorial Centre will be closed for repairs after being extensively damaged on New Year’s Eve.

Sometime overnight on New Years Eve the Woolwich Memorial Centre, located at 24 Snyder Avenue in Elmira, was broken into and heavily vandalized. The Centre sustained extensive damage throughout the building, including large amounts of broken glass, as well as destruction of computer equipment and telephones in numerous offices.

As a result, the Woolwich Memorial Centre will be closed on January 2, 2014 to further assess damage and to estimate restoration timelines. Further closures of the facility, as well as changes to delivery of programs, will be announced after assessments are made. Please check with the Centre directly for updates.
