(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Tuesday December 31, 2013 shortly before the noon hour, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a break-in at a commercial building near the corner of Wellington St. and Herbert St. in Mitchell. Entry to the shed was gained by forcing open the man-door. This occurred sometime between Thursday December 26, 2013 at 4 p.m. and Tuesday December 31, 2013 at 6 a.m. An ARCTIC CAT snowmobile was removed from inside the building.
On December 31, 2013 around 11 a.m., a Mitchell resident observed an abandoned snowmobile in a field near the Wetlands at Frank Street. The undamaged snowmobile was determined to be the stolen ARCTIC CAT.
On Wednesday morning January 01, 2014 the owner of the same shed contacted the OPP and reported another break and enter into the building. This entry had occurred sometime between midnight December 31st and 10 a.m. January 1st. The man-door was forced open and tools were removed from inside.
Anyone having observed suspicious activity in the industrial/commercial area around Wellington St. and Herbert St. in Mitchell between Christmas and New Year’s, is requested to contact the Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
