(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON.) – Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has wrapped up the 2013 Provincial Festive R.I.D.E. Campaign.
Middlesex County OPP officer were out conducting numerous RIDE programs from November 23, 2013 to January 2, 2014 in hopes of preventing potential tragedies on our roadways and also educating the public on the dangers of impaired driving through personal interaction.
During this campaign, Middlesex OPP issued 10 warn range suspensions to drivers with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.05 to 0.08. In addition, officers charged 5 persons with impaired, over 80 or refusal. To compare, in 2012 Middlesex OPP issued 14 warn range suspensions and laid 16 impaired-related charges.
“Although it is a good sign that the number of infractions are down from last year, it is concerning to see that people continue to put lives in danger by driving while impaired. Middlesex OPP will continue to work throughout the year conducting RIDE programs and enforcing the laws to ensure all motorists are safe on our roads†said Detachment Commander Tony Cristilli.
OPP reminds all drivers to do the right thing regardless of the time of year. If you are going to drive, don’t drink. If you plan to drink, make other arrangements. Lives depend on it.
