(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On January 4, 2014, just after 1:00 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a collision involving a single motor vehicle on Highway 40 at Meadowvale Line.
The collision occurred when a Dodge vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch.
While officers were speaking with the driver, 36 year old Zdenka DANIELOVA, from Wallaceburg, ON, it was determined that she had been consuming alcoholic beverages. A roadside test was completed which resulted in a warn range suspension.
In addition to being served with a three day driver’s licence suspension, the driver was charged with the following:
Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
Driving Motor Vehicle With Open Container of Liquor, under the Liquor Licence Act.
Chatham-Kent OPP would like to remind drivers that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. If you consume alcoholic beverages, plan for a safe ride home by using a designated driver, a taxi or public transit to ensure that you and others sharing the road arrive safely.
No injuries were reported.
