(PORT HOPE, ON) – On Saturday January 11, 2013 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a mischief complaint on Ganaraska Road to a Bell Canada’s service box.
A Bell employee contacted OPP to report that several customers had called regarding their service being disrupted on Saturday around 4:00 pm. The complainant and another Bell employee attended the area on Ganaraska Road between Ridgeview Road and Dundee Crescent to find that the service box appeared to have a bullet hole on the side and a cable containing over 100 wires inside was cut, causing the service disruption. Neighbours near the Bell service box were canvassed about phone service connections, some being unaware of even being disconnected. Residents were canvassed by OPP regarding the gunshot with negative results. All service was restored to approximately 18 local customers. The estimated cost of repairs to the cable is $1,000.
