(Hawkesbury, ON) – In the early morning of Monday January 13th, 2014, shortly after 2 am, Hawkesbury OPP officers were alerted by the Sureté du Québec of a collision that occurred in the province of Québec. The SQ relayed information about the suspect vehicle and the driver, whom they suspected as being impaired.
Hawkesbury OPP Constables John Léger and Chantal Duchesne, intercepted the vehicle on the Long Sault Bridge (John Street) in Hawkesbury.
The traffic stop gave the officers reason to believe that the driver had consumed alcohol. Further investigation revealed that the driver had blood alcohol content over the permitted limit.
The driver was consequently arrested for driving a motor vehicle while having over 80 mgs of alcohol per 100 mgs of blood.
Consequently, the driver Guy ROZON (48 yrs) of Saint-Lazare, Québec was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with section 253(1)(b) – Blood Alcohol Content Exceed 80 Milligrams.
His vehicle was seized and his driver’s licence immediately suspended for 90 days.
He was later released on a promise to appear in court on January 29th, 2014 in L’Orignal.
