Vehicle collision results in charges

On January 3rd, 2014, at approx. 8:50 a.m., two Guelph Police Service cruisers where involved in a motor vehicle collision. The collision occurred as the officers were following each other, travelling northbound on Edinburgh Road and then merging onto Wellington Street.
The collision was investigated by the on-duty supervisor. As a result of the investigation, a charge of careless driving under the H.T.A. was laid against one of the officers. The damage to both cruisers was estimated at $2,000.00 (total). There were no injuries as a result of the collision.
