(Otonabee South Monaghan Township, ON) – At approximately 1:30. Hamilton Township Fire Department, Peterborough County Ambulance and Peterborough County OPP responded to a single snowmobiler fatal collision on Hannah Road near Evertsen Road south of Baileboro.
Investigators determined that, in the early morning hours of January 26, 2014, two males had been operating snowmobiles in the Rice Lake Area. They had become separated while heading home for the night. The victim at this time was operating a Polaris snowmobile on Hannah Road. At some point the snowmobile left the road way and became airborne, and the driver was thrown from the vehicle.
The operator was identified as 27 year old Christopher SALE of Hamilton Township was pronounced dead at the scene by Emergency medical personnel.
OPP Traffic Collision Investigators were called to assist in the investigation. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
A post mortem will be conducted on Monday January 27, 2014.
