Ottawa Police lay charges in 2011 retail robbery and 2006 break & enter

(Ottawa) The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has laid charges in relation to a 2011 retail robbery and a 2006 break & enter.

On November 23, 2011, at 11:00 pm, a lone male entered a fast food restaurant situated along the 200 block of Laurier Avenue East. The suspect approached an employee and produced a knife. The suspect accessed the register and fled the premises with an undisclosed quantity of cash. There were no injuries.

Between September 30 and October 1, 2006, a suspect forcibly entered an unoccupied residence situated along the 500 block of Bank Street. The suspect made off with a number of items from the home.

Police recovered evidence at both of these scenes, which recently led to a suspect being identified through DNA. This followed an unrelated 2013 conviction.

Mark Howard Pyke, age 45 of Ottawa, was arrested on January 28, 2014. He has been charged with single counts of robbery, wearing a disguise, breaking & entering, and possession of a break-in instrument. He appeared in court on January 29, 2014.
