(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON.) The Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Sioux Lookout resident after responding to a disturbance on Queen Street Saturday evening.
At approximately 9:30pm on February 1, 2014, officers received multiple complaints about an intoxicated individual who was randomly knocking on the doors of several houses in the area. One resident opened the door for the suspect, at which time the suspect assaulted the resident.
Police located the suspect a short distance from where the assault had occurred, and he was arrested without incident. Upon arrest, it was learned that the suspect was out on bail for prior charges, and was in contravention of his release conditions.
Charged with assault and failing to comply with undertaking is 19 year old Courteney MEKANAK of Sioux Lookout. MEKANAK remains in custody at this time, and will appear in Sioux Lookout bail court on February 3, 2014.
