(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On January 24, 2014 the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) solved several fraud related occurrences from June of 2013.
On June 27, 2013 a female going by a fictitious name cashed a cheque addressed to her from her employer in Barrie at a business in Parry Sound. Later that day, she cashed another cheque addressed to her at another location again in the Town of Parry Sound. Several weeks later the businesses, which honoured the female’s cheques, discovered that they were in fact fraudulent cheques.
In collaboration with the Toronto Police Service (TPS), the OPP were able to make a match and subsequently able to make an arrest.
