(COCHRANE, ON) – On January 31, 2014, the Cochrane Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) laid several weapons related charges against a Brower Township man.
The police investigation revealed that in the late afternoon hours of December 31, 2014, an enraged male discharged his rifle into a moving vehicle on Highway 574, as a result of a verbal dispute. Police confirmed that the involved vehicle occupants had not sustained any injuries during the event and subsequently attended the scene where they arrested the accused male without incident.
As a result of the investigation, 59 year old Malcolm STANSFIELD of Brower Township, Ontario has been arrested and charged with seven counts of firearms related offences and one count of Mischief under $5000, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused male is presently in custody and will be scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane at a later date to answer to his charges.
