HWY 401 MULTI-VEHICLE COLLISION INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police is continuing their investigation into the multi-vehicle crash that occurred on Highway 401 near Putnam Road on February 5, 2014.

The latest tally is that there were 13 people transported to hospital and at least 32 vehicles damaged as a result of the collision but that number may increase as more information comes forward. All injuries were non-life threatening.

The initial investigation has resulted in one driver being charged, however, police stress the investigation is continuing.

“The officers attended to a very complex and involved scene. Our first priority was to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Once the injured were cared for and the scene was under control, we worked very hard at getting the highway reopened as quickly as possible. Now we are gathering all the information to paint a clearer picture so we understand exactly why this happened”, said OPP West Region Highway Safety Division Staff Sergeant Shawn Johnson.
