Shortly after 6:00 p.m. last night, a man and woman began arguing as they walked together on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg. The argument turned physical when the man slapped his pregnant girlfriend and hit her with his backpack. Upon getting home, the woman called police. The woman did not seek medical attention.
Just before 7:30 p.m. officers located the man on Dufferin Avenue and he was arrested. The man has been charged with assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing. Through investigation, the man reported that he was also assaulted during the incident. As a result, the woman was also arrested and charged with assault. She was released with conditions pending a future court date.
