(Chalk River, ON) The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is presently investigating a fatal collision on Highway-17, just east of Chalk River.
The collision occured shortly before 8:30 am when a westbound passenger vehicle collided with an eastbound transport truck.
Two people in the car were killed and three passengers were transported to hospital, one with serious injuries. The driver of the transport was not hurt.
As a result of the collision, Highway-17 is closed in the area. A detour is in place for passenger vehicles between Field’s Road and Main Street in Chalk River. No detour route is available for tractor trailers.
OPP Technical Collision Investigators are at the scene, working to determine the cause of the crash.
