(HALIBURTON, ON) – On Friday February 14, 2014 at 8:30 pm officers from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as well as Haliburton County EMS and Highlands East Fire Department were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Elephant Lake Road in the Municipality of Highlands East Ontario. Emergency personnel were searching for, but unable to locate a snowmobile in a ditch that was involved in a collision near the Pine Grove Point Trailer Park Resort. It was determined through investigation that the call was in fact a prank and as a result the male party responsible for the call was located and arrested. Dwayne MEHARRIE age 18 of Highlands East Ontario was charged with the criminal offence of Public Mischief and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden Ontario on April 02, 2014.
