(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – On March 1, 2011 at approximately 4:00 am a Huron OPP officer stopped a vehicle in Clinton after observing it had an expired validation tag on the plates. Upon speaking to the driver, the officer detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the drivers’ breath.
The officer read a demand for the driver to provide a roadside sample of his breath however the driver did not provide two suitable samples despite several chances by the officers involved.
Herbert George GALE (49) of Bluewater was arrested for failing to provide a breath sample. Further investigation led officers to additional charges. As a result, Herbert GALE has been charged with one count of Fail to Provide Breath Sample, one count of Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent, one count of Drive While Disqualified, one count of Fail to Have Insurance Card, one count of Drive Motor Vehicle No Permit and lastly one count of Drive Motor Vehicle No Validation on Plate. He will answer to his charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on April 11, 2011. His licence has again been suspended for a period of 90 days and the vehicle he was operating has been impounded for 45 days due to the fact that he was driving while disqualified. LP11051791
