Rene DUMAIS – Arrested On Warrant

(HALIBURTON, ON) – On February 16, 2014 officers from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified by Ottawa Police Service that they had a male party in custody in relation to a warrant in Haliburton County. The accused, Rene DUMAIS age 50 from Ottawa Ontario was originally arrested on August 2002 by OPP in Minden Hills Ontario for Impaired Driving. DUMAIS failed to appear in court on September 2003 to answer to the charge. On July 2010 he was arrested in Kemptville Ontario by OPP on an outstanding warrant and was to re-appear in court in Minden Ontario on November 2010. Again, he failed to appear in court. On February 16 2014, almost 11 1/2 years after the original offence of Drinking & Driving, Haliburton Highlands OPP eventually tracked down the accused and with the assistance of Ottawa Police Service he was arrested for a third time. The accused was no longer provided with a new court date as he was transported directly to the Central East Correctional Center in Lindsay Ontario.

The accused is now also charged with the criminal offence of Fail to Attend Court and was held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay Ontario on February 18, 2014.
