Barrie Police were on patrol in the Dunlop St and Ferndale Dr area of Barrie when they observed a vehicle with a suspended validation tag.
Police stopped the vehicle and after speaking with the driver, detected a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.
Police arrested the driver for impaired driving and transported him to the Barrie Police Service for a series of breath tests.
The 48 year old male blew over 2 ½ times the legal limit.
He was held till sober and is facing a March Court date.
