(MAGNETAWAN TWP, ON) – On Saturday June 23, 2018 at approximately 5:00 p.m. members of the Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter on Holden Road.
Upon police arrival to the residence, they discovered a male inside the residence who appeared to be residing there temporarily. Police attempted to arrest the male however he resisted arrest and assaulted police in the process.
Police charged Donald KURTZ, 57 of Wasaga Beach, Ontario with the following offences:
Break and enter a dwelling house to intent to commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
Assault peace officer, contrary to section 270(1)(a) CC
Resist peace officer, contrary to section 129(a) CC
Fail to comply with recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) CC
Fail to comply with undertaking, contrary to section 145(3) CC
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing on Wednesday June 27, 2018 in Parry Sound Ontario.
