(LINDSAY, ON) – As a result of a police investigation, Detectives from the Crime Unit of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest in regards to human trafficking.
The investigation, which has been ongoing since December 2013, has been a combined effort by members of the OPP Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau (POIB), the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), Service Canada and the Waterloo Regional Police Service.
Everol POWELL, 44-years of age of Oakwood, Ontario has been arrested and charged with the following offences:
Human Trafficking (7 Counts)
Material Benefit Resulting from Human Trafficking (7 Counts)
He is being held for a Bail Hearing which is scheduled to take place later today at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Lindsay.
