(CAMPBELLFORD, ON) – Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a male on Saturday February 22, 2013 for weapons offences and uttering threats earlier in the day in Campbellford.
A male was reported to be walking on foot in the Burnbrae Road and Centre Street area in Campbellford and was carrying a 6 inch knife after making threats towards friends and family of a female known to him. The male was located and arrested on Grand Road at Industrial Street by Northumberland OPP members who were patrolling the area. The male was found to be in possession of a small pointed throwing knife and a 12 inch machete in a sheath attached to his belt.
Troy Joshua SMITH, 22 from Warkworth, Ontario has been charged with one count possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and three counts of utter threats cause death or bodily harm under the Criminal Code. The accused was remanded into custody for a bail hearing on Monday February 24, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
