(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have been busy handing out “Operation Heat†positive ticketing vouchers to Mayfield Secondary students. Since the construction of the Smart Centre across from the school, there has been an influx of pedestrian traffic. This situation is being closely monitored by concerned partners including the Town of Caledon, the Region of Peel and the OPP. The OPP are working to ensure that students safely walk across the highway by engaging in conversations with them around traffic safety while distributing over 125 vouchers.
The positive ticketing program “Operation Heat†is a tool utilized by the OPP to initiate relationships between youth and the community. The intention is to ensure that the positive ticket reinforces the positive behaviour exhibited by the youth. The “Operation Heat†program is sponsored by Mac’s Convenience Stores.
Moving forward, the OPP will continue to work with our partners to ensure public safety.
