On March 1, 2014 at approximately 3:55pm, emergency services responded to Waterloo Street and Arnold Street in Wilmot Township for a collision involving a freight train and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, an adult New Hamburg male,was struck at the Waterloo Street rail crossing and pronounced dead at the scene. Waterloo Regional Police, along with the Coroners office, continue their investigation into the circumstances that led to the collision. The death is believed to have been a deliberate action.
