(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is urging all Norfolk County residents to contact the police when they see suspicious persons roaming their neighbourhood after police were called to a Sunning Hill Drive, Port Dover, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Saturday, March 1, 2014 at approximately 1:58 p.m., police were contacted by a concerned homeowner after observing that unknowns entered an unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway of the residence.
Through the course of police investigation, it was determined that nothing was taken from the vehicle and that two males were seen running from the area at approximately 4:40 a.m. however police were not called at that time. While at the address, officers located footprints and subsequently followed the same footprints to 80 different homes in the area. The footprints were located walking around homes and vehicles however no other incidents were reported.
The first suspect is being described as a male and extremely tall. The second suspect is described as small and thin. Both males were last seen running from the area in an unknown direction.
Police want to remind all homeowners to ensure that all windows and doors to their residence area locked at all times and that all blinds and shutters are closed. Homeowners are also reminded to lock their sheds, barns and outbuildings on their property and to also remove valuables from their vehicle and to keep their vehicle locked at all times.
Residents are being asked to contact police immediately if they see suspicious persons or vehicles and to try to obtain as much detail as you can, write down the person(s) description, the type of vehicle they are driving and the licence plate number.
Then don’t delay, call the police and report it. 1 – 888 – 310 – 1122 will put you in contact with the nearest O.P.P. Communications Centre to report the activity. OPP (677) on your cellular will also work.
