(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) -On February 27, 2014 members of Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were busy responding to numerous vehicle collisions across the County, some of which were very serious.
Safety is a top priority of the OPP and several messages were posted to caution drivers on using the roadways as snow was drifting and blowing. Advisories were made not to travel unless absolutely necessary to, and if drivers needed to travel, they were advised to do so with care for themselves and others on the roadways.
On this same date while members were assisting with a collision, an OPP officer had to take time away from providing necessary help to conduct a traffic stop of a vehicle that was travelling at a high rate of speed and crossing all 3 lanes of Highway 401 to get through traffic.
As a result of the traffic stop, Michael LATIFI, 20 years old of Toronto was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:

OPP is doing everything it can to make our roads safe and are asking vehicle drivers to take responsibility for their personal safety, that of their families and others travelling on the roads. Buckle up, don’t drink and drive, drive according to the road and weather conditions allowing yourself extra time to get where you are going and arrive safely.
