Theft From Unlocked Vehicle

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Monday March 10, 2014, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a residence along Rowland St. in Mitchell where the homeowner reported theft from a vehicle.

Investigation revealed that sometime between 11 p.m. Sunday March 09, and 3 p.m. Monday March 10, 2014, an unknown individual entered the home owner’s unlocked pickup truck. The pickup truck was parked in the residence driveway with numerous electronic items in clear view. The culprit removed a GARMIN GPS, and a Motorola flip cell phone along with their respective cords, from the cab of the truck.

The Perth County OPP wishes to talk to anyone with information about this theft or the whereabouts of the items, they can be contacted at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.

Residents are reminded to always roll up your vehicle’s windows, LOCK the doors and pocket the key. Do not leave your vehicle keys in plain view or in an easily accessible area, remove valuables, and do not leave objects or packages in full view. If suspicious persons or vehicles are observed in your neighbourhood, contact the police immediately.
