(HURON EAST, ON) – On March 29, 2011 at approximately 2:45 pm, a Huron OPP officer saw two young males operating Baja minibikes on Louisa Street in Seaforth. Although the males attempted to hide from police, they were located and charged with several offences.
Matthew BOUVIER (19) of Seaforth and Sean FRASER (18) of Seaforth have each been charged with one count of Drive Motor Vehicle with No Licence, one count of Drive Motor Vehicle with No Insurance and one count of Fail to Surrender Permit for Vehicle.
The minibikes involved are not made to travel on the roadway. They are not equipped with proper lights, they are not insured, they do not meet the required standards for road use and they are not registered. These are meant for off-road use. The public is reminded of the need to “do your homework†when purchasing these items. Most “toys†cannot be used on the road and can only be used on private property or on off-road trails.
